Well, here we are again, happy New Year – hope we all had a good Christmas break.
I was hoping to see a few tiny signs of life in the old crab apple tree, but nothing yet, maybe next month… But I have managed to take some photos of a lovely blue sky so that is a bonus.
Roll on Spring.

Wow, what a contrast compared with August!
Wow, being new to this tree following project I also went to look at your August post – what an astounding difference the seasons make! It really makes one appreciate the life force that makes those lovely leaves, blossoms and fruits bud forth in due season doesn’t it! This is going to be a very educational year for me, who has not paid too close attention to trees and their changes before. Perhaps because our seasons are so much milder here and there is not so much drama in it all? Well, I am committed to closer observation now. I look forward to future visits here with your crab apple.
It is amazing the difference a few months makes! I do love this tree when it is in full blossom but hard to remember it now in the depths of winter 🙂
It’s the pollarding I specially find interesting with this tree. I don’t associate it really with crab apples but with London Planes. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too. The lopping probably isn’t as careful as it should be but we are trying to keep the tree at a manageable size as it is in our small front garden and the apples would go all over the pavement/road if we let it!
